“Can romance be any more complicated than a bride who doesn’t remember running away from her groom? Denise Hunter’s take on a woman’s attempt to find her way back to happily ever after again is sweetly endearing. Highly recommended!” -Colleen Coble USA TODAY bestselling author of the Lavender Tides and Hope Beach series “I’ve been a longtime fan of Denise Hunter’s, and The Goodbye Bride has everything I’ve come to love about her romances: a plucky heroine with lots of backstory, a yummy hero, and a terrific setting. Genre: Romance, Adult, New Adult, Contemporary 6/7/2023 0 Comments Maas empire of stormsIt’s not that I’m against including sex scenes in books – censorship shouldn’t be a thing for YA readers. The book gets more baffling as Maas presents us with constant horndog moments and then, finally, a 10-page highly graphic sex scene. However, it didn’t get much better at that point. Somewhere around the 200-page mark, I began to feel like there was some substance to the story. It definitely took its time to pick up in pace. As I said in that review, Queen of Shadows felt like it could have been the finale of the series, so I was already very wary about continuing with Empire of Storms. The book started off really slow, especially after the fast-paced climax of Queen of Shadows. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, hence the 3.5.Īs per usual, I’ll get what I didn’t like out of the way first. It was one of those books that I was highly excited to get to, yet confused when I actually got to it. This review might be all over the place as a reflection of my genuine thoughts while reading Empire of Storms. Apparently, I only ever reviewed Queen of Shadows on here, so check out that review! 3 days ago on April 18th I suddenly lost my fiancee. These were somehow both comforting and heart wrenching to read. Sometimes I just want to sleep and go away somewhere far and start over but that still wouldn’t solve the aching hole I have in my heart and life. I feel like the world just keeps passing by and I can’t catch the train to continue on this journey. I’ve lost grandparents/friends and other family members but there is just something about losing your mom and dad almost together. My heart now understands what “grief” really is. I am also angry that they passed from Covid as others I have read about. Just celebrated Mother’s Day (1st without my mom) tough. It seems like it never goes away or gets easier. I actually lost my sister (not physically), but as a family member per her request. It is May and I am still having a hard time. Mom passed on Saturday, August 21, dad passed the following Sunday, August 29, 2022. I lost both parents last August 2022 8 days apart due to Covid. 6/6/2023 0 Comments The blackthorn key book 5But as motives and secrets are revealed, Christopher finds himself in a desperate race to reclaim his memories and discover the missing children before it’s too late. We experienced their initial awkwardness, followed by sexual tension, tentative trust and full on implosion. To me, the great thing about John and Xhex’s relationship is that it has been running for a couple of books. But there’s much more than meets the eye to Xhex and John is drawn to her like a moth to a flame. With her athletic body, her strong features, her men’s haircut and her tough as nails attitude, she’s hardly your typical romance heroine. Now Xhex must be one of the most controversial characters of the series. He wants to belong to someone and his object of affection is Xhex. Warrior body or not, inside John Matthew feels small, empty and out of place. In Lover Mine he has turned into a beautiful vampire male with a warrior body, who lives with the King of his race and fights with the Black Dagger Brotherhood. When we meet him in Lover Eternal, he’s a scrawny little mute who lives in a run down apartment and carries a big secret with him. John Matthew, aka Darius reincarnated, is undoubtedly one of the most popular characters in the series. But most importantly: it’s about John Matthew. About revenge, trust, friendship and love. About circumstances and relationships coming full circle. Lover Mine is the eighth book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. 6/5/2023 0 Comments Zhuangzi book onlineZhuangzi elucidates this mystical philosophy through humor, parable, and anecdote, deploying non sequitur and even nonsense to illuminate a truth beyond the boundaries of ordinary logic. When one ceases to judge events as good or bad, man-made suffering disappears and natural suffering is embraced as part of life. To be free, individuals must discard rigid distinctions between good and bad, right and wrong, and follow a course of action not motivated by gain or striving. This is Daoist philosophy's central tenet, espoused by the person-or group of people-known as Zhuangzi (369?-286? B.C.E.) in a text by the same name. Only by inhabiting Dao (the Way of Nature) and dwelling in its unity can humankind achieve true happiness and freedom, in both life and death. |
